General-purpose arithmetic, computed in your browser. Both calculators here follow the standard order of operations, which is the most common source of disagreement between calculators: typing 2 + 3 × 4 gives 14 on anything that respects precedence, because the multiplication binds first, but 20 on a simple four-function calculator that evaluates strictly left to right as each key is pressed. Many pocket calculators still behave the second way.

The basic calculator covers everyday arithmetic, evaluating an expression the way a spreadsheet or a programming language would. Where you want a different grouping, parentheses make the intent explicit rather than relying on the default.

The scientific calculator extends that to trigonometric, logarithmic and exponential functions, and evaluates a whole typed expression rather than one keypress at a time. Reach for it when you need functions beyond arithmetic, or when you would rather write the expression out and check it before evaluating.
